Welcome to TryCeed. By using our platform, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using TryCeed ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our platform.
We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use TryCeed
- Students must be currently enrolled or admitted to a recognized tertiary institution in Nigeria
- You must provide accurate and complete information during registration
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
3. User Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
When you create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information
- Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
- Maintain the security of your password
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
3.2 Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms of Service
- You provide false or misleading information
- Your activity poses a risk to our platform or users
- We are required to do so by law
4. Student Campaigns
4.1 Campaign Creation
Students who create campaigns agree to:
- Provide truthful and accurate information about their educational needs
- Submit valid verification documents (student ID, admission letter, etc.)
- Use funds received exclusively for educational purposes as stated in the campaign
- Post regular updates about their academic progress
- Respond to reasonable inquiries from donors and TryCeed staff
- Not create multiple active campaigns simultaneously
4.2 Verification Process
All student campaigns must be verified by TryCeed before going live. We verify:
- Student identity and enrollment status
- Educational institution legitimacy
- Authenticity of submitted documents
- Reasonableness of funding goals
We reserve the right to reject any campaign at our discretion.
4.3 Prohibited Campaign Content
Campaigns may not:
- Contain false, misleading, or fraudulent information
- Violate any laws or regulations
- Infringe on intellectual property rights
- Contain hate speech, discriminatory content, or harassment
- Promote illegal activities
5. Donations
5.1 Making Donations
By making a donation, you agree that:
- Donations are voluntary contributions
- You are legally able to make the donation
- The payment information you provide is accurate and authorized
- Donations are generally non-refundable once processed
5.2 Refund Policy
Donations are generally non-refundable. However, we may consider refunds in exceptional circumstances:
- Technical errors in processing
- Fraudulent campaigns (if discovered before funds are disbursed)
- Duplicate charges
Refund requests must be submitted within 48 hours of the donation.
5.3 Tax Deductibility
Donations made through TryCeed are currently not tax-deductible as we are not a registered charity. Consult with a tax professional for advice specific to your situation.
6. Fees and Payments
6.1 Platform Fees
TryCeed charges a 5% platform fee on all successful donations to cover operating costs, verification processes, and platform maintenance.
6.2 Payment Processing Fees
Payment processing fees (approximately 1.5% + ₦100 per transaction) are charged by Paystack, our payment processor. These fees are separate from TryCeed's platform fees.
6.3 Fund Disbursement
For students:
- Funds can be withdrawn once raised
- Withdrawals are processed within 3-5 business days
- Valid bank account information must be provided
- We may request additional verification before disbursing large amounts
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Platform Content
TryCeed's name, logo, design, and all platform content are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute our platform content without permission
- Use our trademarks or branding without authorization
- Create derivative works based on our platform
7.2 User Content
By posting content on TryCeed (campaign stories, updates, comments), you:
- Retain ownership of your content
- Grant TryCeed a non-exclusive license to use, display, and distribute your content
- Represent that you have the right to post the content
- Allow TryCeed to use your content for promotional purposes
8. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Engage in fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive practices
- Harass, threaten, or harm other users
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Interfere with the platform's operation or security
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) without permission
- Collect user information without consent
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
9.1 Platform "As Is"
TryCeed is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- The accuracy of user-generated content
- That students will achieve their funding goals
- That students will use funds as stated
9.2 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- TryCeed is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount of fees we collected from you
- We are not responsible for disputes between users
- We are not liable for third-party actions (payment processors, etc.)
9.3 Relationship Disclaimer
TryCeed is a platform that connects students and donors. We do not:
- Guarantee the identity or qualifications of any user
- Endorse any specific campaign or user
- Act as an agent, trustee, or fiduciary for any user
- Control how students use donated funds (beyond verification and monitoring)
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TryCeed and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms of Service
- Your use of the platform
- Your content posted on the platform
- Your violation of any rights of another party
11. Dispute Resolution
11.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
11.2 Dispute Resolution Process
In the event of a dispute:
- Contact us at legal@tryceed.name.ng to attempt informal resolution
- If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved through arbitration in Lagos, Nigeria
- Each party bears their own legal costs unless otherwise determined by the arbitrator
12. Miscellaneous
12.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and TryCeed.
12.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full effect.
12.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
12.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms. TryCeed may assign these Terms without restriction.
