Frequently Asked Questions
Your questions about donating on TryCeed, answered. Learn how you can make a difference in a student's life.
Getting Started
Do I need to create an account to donate?
No, you can donate as a guest without creating an account. However, creating a free donor account allows you to track your donations, receive updates from students you've supported, and manage your giving history.
How do I choose which student to support?
Browse our verified student campaigns on the "Browse Students" page. You can filter by institution, field of study, funding goal, or how close they are to reaching their target. Read their stories, review their academic records, and choose the one that resonates with you most.
What is the minimum donation amount?
The minimum donation is ₦1,000. However, you can donate any amount you're comfortable with. Every naira counts and brings students closer to their education goals.
Payment & Security
Is my payment information secure?
Absolutely. All payments are processed through Paystack, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment gateway. We never store your card information on our servers. Your payment data is encrypted and secure.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept:
- Debit and Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Verve)
- Bank Transfers
- USSD payments
- Mobile Money
Will I receive a receipt?
Yes, you'll receive an email receipt immediately after your donation is processed. If you created an account, you can also view all your donation receipts in your dashboard.
Are there any fees?
TryCeed charges a 5% platform fee to cover operating costs. Payment processing fees (charged by Paystack) are approximately 1.5% + ₦100. These fees help us maintain the platform and verify students. 100% of your remaining donation goes directly to the student.
Trust & Verification
How do you verify students?
Every student undergoes a strict verification process before their campaign goes live:
- Valid admission letter or student ID verification
- Government-issued ID confirmation
- Academic transcript review (where applicable)
- Phone number and email verification
- Background check on the institution
Only verified students can receive donations on TryCeed.
How do I know my money is going to the student?
100% transparency is our priority. After deducting platform and payment processing fees, all funds go directly to the student's verified bank account. Students are required to post regular updates showing how they're using the funds.
What if a campaign doesn't reach its goal?
TryCeed operates on a flexible funding model. This means students receive whatever amount they raise, even if they don't reach their full goal. Partial funding can still make a significant difference in a student's education.
After Donating
Can I donate anonymously?
Yes! During the donation process, you can choose to donate anonymously. Your name won't be displayed on the campaign page, though the student will still receive an anonymous notification that someone supported them.
Will I receive updates from the student?
Yes! If you provided your email and didn't donate anonymously, you'll receive email notifications when the student posts updates about their academic progress. You can also view these updates on the campaign page.
Can I donate to multiple students?
Absolutely! You can support as many students as you wish. Many donors choose to spread their giving across multiple campaigns to maximize their impact.
Can I get a refund?
Due to the nature of crowdfunding, donations are generally non-refundable once processed. However, if there are exceptional circumstances or if you believe there was an error, please contact our support team within 48 hours and we'll review your case.
Tax & Legal
Are donations tax-deductible?
At this time, donations made through TryCeed are not tax-deductible as we are not a registered charity. However, we are working towards obtaining the necessary certifications. Please consult with a tax professional for advice specific to your situation.
